To the ocean!

Every weekend when Saturday comes around, Brent asks Max what day of the week it is. Max answers "Saturday" and when Brent asks him where we go on Saturdays, Max says (with lots of excitement) "to the ocean!!" This weekend, we went to the beach both Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, we spent several hours at Twin Lakes beach followed by lunch at the Crow's Nest. On Sunday, we spent the day together with neighbors at Manresa beach. We pulled up, Max saw the ocean and was anxious to get out of the car. When Brent backed up the car slightly to park closer to the adjacent car in the parking lot, Max lost it and cried "no, I want to go to ocean!" He thought we were leaving again..poor baby! We ended up having another fabulous beach day. The guys were able to surf and the kids played for hours. Max was asleep in the car before we even left the parking lot to go home...

Basement organization day...

After a fun weekend with Carin & Jim visiting from Dallas, Brent and I decided to tackle the huge job of cleaning-up and organizing the basement... We started the project while Max took his afternoon nap but since the job took several hours, Max was right there in the middle of all the boxes of junk we have somehow collected. He was so patient and good! He really liked going through the boxes with baby clothes/baby toys and all the Christmas decorations (yikes...soon it is time to put those up again!) and was quite upset when it needed to be put away. It feels great to have our storage organized and a truck load of stuff relocated to The Salvation Army..

Visit from Dallas

Carin and Jim arrived from Dallas on Friday evening - it was so good to see them! It had been over a year since Max and I saw them last! On Saturday morning, Brent and Jim went surfing - Jim did quite well! Carin, Max and I went to Crow's Nest in Santa Cruz for lunch and Marlene, Chris and Lilly drove down from Half Moon Bay and met us. Carin, Max and I waited for them on one of the outdoor patios, enjoying the sunshine. Unfortunately it was interrupted when a huge Pelican landed on us!! Carin and I were sitting next to each other and it literally landed on our shoulders. It was terrifying, everyone on the patio freaked out (us included...), Max started to cry. It was quite an experience. By the time Marlene & Co. arrived, the bird had been caught and removed, our table cleaned off and our water glasses replaced. It was great to catch up with the Soderstroms who were happy to have missed the Pelican visit.

Carin and I were able to get some shopping done in the afternoon while Brent and Jim prepared dinner. The Uffelmans joined us for a BBQ and made the evening even more fun. Max and Luke had fun playing. Carin was quite taken with baby Brinn. Karen and Brian double checked the stroller on the way home to make sure Brinn was still in it...

On Sunday we had to show Carin and Jim the favorite crepe stand at the Los Gatos Farmers Market. Thereafter, we got some more shopping done before Carin flew home. It was a fun weekend and we are crossing our fingers that one day, Carin and Jim (and Mia!) will relocate to California...

Wednesday evening

Brent came home from Chicago today and we decided to go out to eat dinner at Chevy's. Although Max decided not to eat any of his dinner but was satisfied with chips and salsa and his milk, we had an enjoyable dinner. During the car ride home, he mentioned that he "needed a minute" while holding up his pointer. So funny.

Trip to Blondie's

We have such great friends and neighbors. Tonight we went to Blondie's for ice-cream together with Kristen & Cooper, The Uffelmans and The Fucillos. Max and Luke rode their tricycles. So adorable. Max is getting the hang of it, finally while Luke is riding like there is no tomorrow!

Making waffles

Max made his first "own" waffle on Sunday morning! He stirred the batter and helped pour the mix onto the hot waffle iron and made sure to tell me how we had to be careful because the iron was hot. He was SO excited about making (and eating) his very own waffle. So cute.

Family Day

Wonderful day in Monterrey where we visited the Aquarium. The seahorse exhibit was quite cool. Max's favorite was seeing the sharks!

Sunday afternoon in San Francisco

We spent the afternoon in San Francisco today - because we can! We hung out at the Ferry Building for a while and walked around in North Beach, stopped at a playground for a while. The weather was fabulous! Brent made pulled pork sandwiches for dinner. The smoker sure as a great Father's Day gift!
