kindergarten!!

max started kindergarten at st. martin.  he was so excited and ready!  he truly loves his new school and his teachers and old and new friends.  since kindergarten ends earlier than max is used to from central nursery school, he will be in the after school program every day.  he loves it!  he gets to throw the football with mr. romero (pe teacher), play board games and just hang out with his buddy charles.  max isn't happy about being picked up at the end of the day...guess we should have looked into a boarding school instead?!  we are just so happy that he loves his school!

our finn turned two on august 9.  he opened present in the morning.  the many balloons and birthday card which played music when opened were some of the favorite things.  he saw his friend eme who watched him that day.  max was super excited about finn's brithday.  he made finn special cupcakes the night before and decorated them with sprinkles in the morning.

our little finn turned two today!  that little guy.  so cute and handsome and amazingly adorable while stubborn and strong willed and extremely loud.  two years ago today that little boy joined this world and completed our little family.  a little brother and best friend for max.  i will never forget when max held his new baby brother for the first time.  max sat in the guest chair in my hospital room with the baby in his lap, patting finn's head - over and over.  max looked so happy, so proud.  although there is quite a bit of fighting and disagreements taking place on a daily basis, the boys are close and love each other.  

i think finn had a good birthday.  we had chocolate chip waffles for breakfast followed by cupcakes that max baked last night.  big brother also helped choose the presents which included books, toys, a rolling suitcase and a scooter.  we blew up balloons last night since finn loves balloons.  finn spent the day with emeline ("eme") and they always have a good time.  tonight, he tried out the new scooter and did really well.  he ran through a puddle of water over and over until his shoes were soaking wet.  after another cupcake, bath and a cup of milk, it was time for bed.

my little boy is now sound asleep.  sweet dreams my little love bug.  i love you.  happy birthday.

max last day of swim lessons at the ymca was yesterday.  he swam for four weeks this summer through central nursery school and loved it!  he had john as his instructor for the second year in a row.  max's freestyle is awesome while his backstroke still needs some work.

 

here are some photos from a recent visit to rancho san antonio where we looked at the farm animals.  max was asked to help feed the chickens!  he loved it and did a great job.  the boys visited the goats, the sheep, the cow and pigs. so fun!

we made a trip to roaring camp railroad up in felton in santa cruz mountains a couple of weeks ago.  finn didn't like the sound from the train whistle and couldn't wait for the ride to be over.  max has experienced the train ride a couple of times before.  we ended the evening with dinner at tyrolean inn, our favorite german restaurant.  they have a play area for kids that kept max and finn entertained for long enough for brent and i to both order and finish dessert without the kids even knowing!  mean, i know.
